How to Unlock God’s Word

Morning Thought: Our four-year-old daughter, Valerie, has never been taught to memorise. Yet, she remembers all the four and six digit passwords to our phones. We told her them a couple of times, and now she unlocks our phones all by herself. Why? She loves what she can do with them—playing games and watching kid videos. We memorise things when we delight in them. It’s the same with Scripture. Nothing will keep you out of the Word when you enjoy it. Memorisation and meditation will be easy when it’s your joy and delight. Father, cause us to delight in your teaching. “Blessed is the one…whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers” (‭‭Psalm‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬).

Give Me This Mountain

Morning Thought: Standing between you and God’s promises are giants and strongholds. These promises are your birthright, your inheritance. God has made a covenant with you through Christ. These mountains and lands are yours. But you will need to claim them. Think about Caleb. He was eighty-five years old. He knew the mountain and hill country around Hebron was allotted to him. Even though giants resided there, Caleb drove them out. Today, take the ‘land’ God has shown you. “…Here I am this day, eighty-five years old…Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said”” ‭‭(Joshua‬ ‭14:10, 12‬, ‭NKJV‬‬).

Closing the Gap (Audio Message)

Today’s message, Closing the Gap. It will give you practical help about how to live in Christ. https://brisbanefire.com/messages/closing-the-gap

Integrity

Morning Thought: Integrity is one of the hallmarks of Christ’s disciples. They have integrity in both their public and private lives. They let their ‘yes be yes’ and their ‘no be no’. What they say, they do. They not only start with enthusiasm, but finish with excellence. This kind of integrity does not come from ourselves, but from Christ’s work within. Today, let Jesus make you into a person of integrity. Your integrity will bless both you and your children. “A righteous man who walks in his integrity—how blessed are his sons after him” ‭(‭Proverbs‬ ‭20:7‬, ‭NASB‬‬).

Focus

Morning Thought: Focus. Scientists are saying that modern technology is rewiring our brains. It’s causing us to lose our ability to focus and be present to those around us. Yet, how can you pray without focus? How can you listen without focus? How can you bless others without focus? It’s not wrong to use technology, but don’t let it cause you to live a distracted life. Let God renew your mind so that you can focus on Jesus and his plan. “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-2‬, NIV‬‬).

The Natural or the Supernatural

Morning Thought: There was one thing that stood out to me when I was reflecting on Ingrid’s message this morning. God still has a plan for you no matter the intensity of the pain you’re going through. Both Orpah and Ruth lost everything. However, Ruth chose the supernatural path, while Orpah chose the natural path. We never again hear about Orpah, but we definitely hear more about Ruth. Why? Ruth clung to the Lord. In your pain there are two paths you can choose: 1) God’s way, or 2) your way. It’s God’s way—clinging to his call—that will make all the difference. “At this they wept aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her” ‭(Ruth‬ ‭1:14‬, ‭NIV‬‬).
