Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

My Joy and Crown

Morning Thought: A man or woman of God has no greater joy than God himself and his people. David sings, “As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight” (Ps 16:3‬‬‬). In the same vein, Paul writes, “my beloved brethren whom I long to see, my joy and crown” (Phil 4:1). Why do they love God’s people in this passionate way? Because they have the Father’s own love in their hearts for his children. There’s no greater motivation to pray for one another and serve each other than this unrelenting, heaven-sent love.

Everyday Grace

Morning Thought: Grace is not just for salvation, it’s for everyday. Morning by morning you need grace to live a life that honours God. No good thing can come from you, except by God’s grace. And what is that grace? It’s the Lord’s unmerited kindness that helps you and flows through you. Father, today I am weak, let your grace be my daily bread. “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me” (‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬, ‭NASB‬‬).

For Australia

Morning Thought: This passage was first written for those in Galilee, but this morning the Lord spoke it to me for Australia: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them. You shall multiply the nation, you shall increase their gladness; they will be glad in your presence as with the gladness of harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For you shall break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor, as at the battle of Midian” (‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:2-4‬, NASB‬‬). Join me in prayer for Australia.

No Shortcuts

Morning Thought: There’s a way to the destination. One of the great frustrations we face is trying to get to the destination without walking down the right way. God has no shortcuts and no magic potions. We want a happy marriage, but there’s a way to get there. We desire victory, but there’s a path to overcoming. Discover God’s way, walk in it and you’ll get to his green pastures. “The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake” ‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭23:1-3‬, NIV‬‬).

Walk

Walk

Morning Thought: Walk! The principal thing that defines you as a Christian is your walk. It’s how you live that makes the difference. The world is not very interested in your statement of beliefs. It’s your walk that’s your witness. It’s your walk that truly states your faith. Walk consistently, walk uprightly, walk differently—and get back up quickly when you fall. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh” ‭‭(Galatians‬ ‭5:16,‬ ‭NASB‬‬).
