Invasion of Light

Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: April, 2014

The Rising Sun

Morning Thought: May God’s favor rise upon you like the sun. May he melt away the frost of your mourning and comfort you with the warmth of his love. “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning”(Psalm 30:5 NIV)

Dig Out the Dirt

Morning Thought: The Philistines envied the blessing on Isaac’s life and so stopped up his father’s wells. In the same way, the world, our own sinful desires and the devil try to block our wells. Did you know that God’s people are called to be springs of living water bringing eternal life to the world? But to be that we need to dig out the dirt – the dirt of distractions, disappointments and evil desires. Let’s start digging! “Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.” (Genesis 26:18 NIV; see also, John 7:37-38)

Give Room

Morning Thought: Give people room to grow – don’t overcrowd them. Overcrowding always seems to lead to tension. The Philistines were constantly fighting with Isaac because they were too close to one another. But God gave Isaac room and consequently he flourished. “He [Isaac] moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.” (Genesis 26:22 NIV)

More Than Ten Thousand

Morning Thought: We are all created equally, but we don’t all live equally. There are some who through their walk with God become extremely valuable. They are worth more than ten thousand others. Seek to be worth your weight in gold. Of David his troops said, “You are worth ten thousand of us!” (2 Sam. 18:3, NIV).

My God

Morning Thought: On the cross Jesus cried out the first verse of Psalm 22: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” At that moment the wrath of God covered his soul like a dark cloud; he could not fathom the reason he was forsaken. But now we know why. “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed” (Isa. 52:5). Today, kneel before the cross and receive God’s forgiveness, peace and healing.

Finding Happiness

Morning Thought: Finding happiness is the subject of many books. Everybody seems to have a formula. But there is only one true place of lasting joy. It’s in God’s presence, walking in his way. “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” (Ps. 16:11). May this joy be yours today and forever!

What it’s All About

Morning Thought: Let’s remember what this week is all about…and it’s not about a long weekend. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
