Morning Thought: It’s after the fire falls that the fight begins. And it’s at this time that we often feel fatigued. After the fire fell, Elijah said he had enough. He asked God to take his life. But the Lord spoke to him to arise and eat. Don’t stay down. Watch that your feelings don’t take over. Arise from your depression and eat God’s Word, your source of strength. Run into the Lord’s stronghold rather than run away. You’ll find God’s got your back. “The angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, ‘Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you’” (1 Kings 19:7 NASB).
Vintage Morning Thought: Where would you like to live? Some want to live by the shore, others in a quiet country cottage. You may long to escape to an island or explore Africa’s jungles. But the best place to live is Wisdom’s house. In Proverbs, Solomon describes two houses, each advertising for new residents. Both wisdom and folly want to host you. One will raise you up, the other will drag you down. Here’s the thing: you can’t bounce from one house to another. Wisdom only takes permanent residents. “Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars..she calls from the tops of the heights of the city: ‘Come, eat of my food and drink of the wine I have mixed. Forsake your folly and live, and proceed in the way of understanding'” (Proverbs 9:1, 3, 5-6, NASB).
Morning Thought: It’s easy to muddy the waters and make faith complicated. Walking with God is as simple and pure as H20. What do I mean? Hear to Obey. Hear God, but not just surface hearing; let his Word penetrate your heart. And then obey. Do what Jesus says. When you hear and obey, rivers of living water will flow from deep within you. You’ll be refreshed and others too. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24, NASB).
