Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: July, 2015

Morning Thought: Overcomers are those who get over whatever adversity comes at them. The overcome are not promised the new heavens and earth, but the overcomers are. Today, overcome, even if you have to crawl over your mountain. Better yet, may God give you vitality so that you stride over difficulty with dignity and grace. “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son” (Rev.‬ ‭21:7‬, ‭NASB‬‬; cf Rev. 21:8, Hab. 3:17-19).

Wrestling with Questions

Are you wrestling with questions? Even great men like Moses did. In today’s message you’ll hear the questions that often arise in your heart as you walk with God. You’ll also hear the Lord’s answer. You can download both audio and notes. Please share. Thanks!

God Summed Up In One Word

Morning Thought: Yahweh is the One who was, who is and who is to come. He was—he is the origin of all and has made to you precious promises. He is—he is faithful and is here for you right now. He will—he is unchangeable and will fulfil every word he has spoken. God’s character is summed up in one name: JESUS (meaning, Yahweh saves). “God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you…Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations” (Exo. 3:14-15‬, ‭NASB‬‬; note: Yahweh comes from the Hebrew ‘to be’, ie. is, was and will).

Morning Thought: Just as a bride and groom walk through a rain of flower petals, God showers his goodness on you. The Lord and his angels are overjoyed that you are now united to the Son. They celebrate, lavishing gifts on you. Your marriage to Jesus is more royal than any earthly wedding. When the Lord is your shepherd, you can truly say, “Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever” (Ps 23:6‬ ‭NASB‬‬).

What If

Morning Thought: Fear of the future will take you off course. Asking ‘What if’ can cause you to spiral down a vortex of anxiety. Moses at the burning bush asked ‘What if?’. The Lord responded by showing him the staff in Moses’ hand–his authority. Don’t forget you have authority in Christ to overcome whatever the future throws at you. “Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.'” The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A staff” (Exo‬. ‭4:1-2,‬ ‭NASB).‬‬

Roaring Lions

Morning Thought: Every ‘beast’ that tries to devour you is a potential blessing. Samson was attacked by a roaring lion. The Spirit of God empowered him and he ripped the lion to pieces. Later, bees made a hive within the carcass and Samson enjoyed the sweet honey. What once was a bitter threat, now became a sweet blessing. Like Samson, when you overcome your fiercest problems, you will enjoy God’s finest promises. May what Samson said be real in your life today: “Out of the eater, something to eat; out of the strong, something sweet” (Judges‬ ‭14:14‬ ‭NIV; cf. Judges 14:1-14‬‬).
