Invasion of Light

Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: May, 2015

A Burning Torch

Morning Thought: People’s thoughts about life and God are often a jumbled mass of confusion. But, God does not want you to be left in the dark. His Word is a light to keep you from falling off the cliff’s edge. Today, let the Lord’s torch illuminate your steps. “Your word is a burning torch, illuminating my feet; it lights up my journey’s path” (Ps 119:105, personal translation).

The Father’s Loyal Love

Morning Thought: In a world where loyalty is in low supply, your heavenly Father is committed to you and your children. His love is steadfast even when you stumble. He will never walk out on you and his lovingkindness will flow down to those who love him from one generation to the next. Bless the Lord, O my soul! “Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.” (‭Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭2-5‬ NASB)

One Fear Rules Them All

Morning Thought: There is one fear that rules over every other fear. This fear causes the others to cringe before it. What is this fear? It’s the fear of the Lord. Psalm 112 describes how the fear of God sets us free from all other fears. Today, fear him who conquered every enemy of your soul, even death. “Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands…They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes” (‭Psalm‬ ‭112‬:‭1, 7-8‬ NIV).

Blood Stains

Morning Thought: No matter how hard you scrub sin’s stain it only spreads. It is ingrained in the fabric of your soul. There is only one detergent that will make you white as snow: the blood of Jesus. Usually, blood stains are the worst. But Jesus’ blood removes all stains. Let him wash you today. “If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (‭1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭7,‬ NASB).

They’re Really Crackpots

Morning Thought: The cross confounds the most learned and successful men and women. They say, “Success is like a new wardrobe, it looks and feels great.” God says, “Success is obedience to me even if you’re dressed in rags.” Today, glory in the cross. It may seem foolish to your friends and family, but Christ’s cross is the power and wisdom of God. “The Message that points to Christ on the Cross seems like sheer silliness to those hellbent on destruction, but for those on the way of salvation it makes perfect sense. This is the way God works, and most powerfully as it turns out. It’s written, I’ll turn conventional wisdom on its head, I’ll expose so-called experts as crackpots.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭18-19 MSG)

Higher than the Heavens

Morning Thought: If you boarded a light-speed spacecraft it would take approximately ninety two billion years to travel from one side of the observable universe to the other. The universe is massive. But, did you know that your heavenly Father’s love for you towers over it? Nothing is bigger than God’s love and kindness toward you. He will help you through every issue you are facing today. “For Your lovingkindness is great above the heavens, and your truth reaches to the skies” (Psalm 108:4, NASB).

Self-Confidence

Morning Thought: Self-confidence is limited and very deceptive. It will help you to start walking, even standing tall. But then, you’ll end up flat on your face, wondering why your teeth are cracked and your nose is broken. God-confidence is a whole other thing. Putting your trust in God will get you up and sustain you through the varying terrains of life. Finding your strength in God will never let you down. “Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence” (‭1 Cor.‬ ‭10‬:‭11-12‬ MSG).
