Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: May, 2016

Step In

Morning Thought: At the Red Sea, God first parted the waters and then Israel crossed over. But the second time, at the Jordan, the Lord had them step into the waters before he parted them. I sense the Lord wants to move us from just waiting for a miracle, to stepping into the thing itself. As you step into the impossible, Jesus makes it possible. It was as the disciples passed out the few pieces of bread and fishes that the multiplication happened. We tend to wait for the multiplication and then start passing things out. The Father wants to change us. First, hear God’s Word. Then, act in faith before the miracle and you will see God’s glory. “It shall come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, and the waters which are flowing down from above will stand in one heap” (Joshua‬ ‭3:13‬, ‭NASB‬‬).

God Visits the Back of Bourke

A powerful day in God’s presence. We started at 10am and people were still praying for one another at 3pm. God was definitely moving. Here’s the inspirational message Daniel & Diane shared today about their recent trip to the outback. I know you will be blessed. Please share.

The Beauty of the Lord

Morning Thought: David desired “to behold the beauty of the Lord.” One glimpse of the Lord’s beauty refreshes your soul. The light of his glory causes lust and pride to flee like shadows from your heart. When you see Jesus with the eyes of your heart you desire nothing else but him and his will. “One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple” (Psalms‬ ‭27:4,‬ ‭NASB‬‬).

Get Right

Morning Thought: Righteousness is the foundation of effective prayer. Get right to pray right. “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James‬ ‭5:16‬, ‭NKJV‬‬).

The Secret Chamber

Morning Thought: When I was a magician, I had quite a few trick boxes. Open them up and they looked empty, like any box. But concealed within was some hidden treasure that only I knew about. At the right time, I could pull the object out, baffling the crowd. It’s the same with Scripture. Open it, casually read, and you may think it’s empty. But, know the Master and that’s when the miracle happens. The Maker himself reveals the treasure and your heart responds with wonder-filled worship. “The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant” (Psalms‬ ‭25:14‬, NASB‬‬).

Clark Kent’s Phone Booth

Morning Thought: Prayer transforms you from an ordinary person to somone cloaked with supernatural power. Your prayer closet is like Clark Kent’s phone booth. It’s in the secret place that the metamorphosis takes place. Like you, Elijah was an ordinary person, but he prayed. Prayer enabled him to move in God’s extraordinary power and purposes. Today, find your place of transformation in prayer. “Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops” (James‬ ‭5:17-18,‬ ‭NIV‬‬).

Today & Tomorrow

Morning Thought: Plough in prayer today for a harvest tomorrow. What you sow now will reap rewards in the future. Sleep when it’s time to work the land and you will not be able to celebrate during the harvest. Why blame others for your lack? God has given you all the tools and seed in his Word, but it’s up to you to do something with it. “The sluggard does not plow after the autumn, So he begs during the harvest and has nothing” (Proverbs‬ ‭20:4‬, ‭NASB‬‬).
