Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: June, 2015

Pieces or Peace

Morning Thought: Try to make everyone happy and you’ll be pulled to pieces. Live to please your heavenly Father and you’ll be at peace. “For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ” (‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ NASB).

A Walk in the Wild

Morning Thought: Your journey is not a walk through a theme park where everything is planned for your pleasure. Instead, it’s a walk in the wild. The walk’s beauty surpasses the artificial, but danger is also immanent. Jesus walks with you and his Word is your compass, leading you to higher ground. This is why Paul and Barnabas were “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, ‘Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God'” (‭Acts‬ ‭14‬:‭22‬ NASB).

The Journey

Morning Thought: Walking with God is a journey. It is an exodus out of your old life’s darkness and a pilgrimage to the light of God’s glory. This is no TV episode, here one hour and gone the next. This is a daily unfolding of God’s grace, getting sweeter and sweeter as the days deepen. “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬, NASB)

Truth’s Sting & Salve

Morning Thought: Truth is like honey, it’s sweet and heals. But, before its sweetness, it often stings. And just like the honeybee dies after losing its sting, so truth comes to nothing when you strip it of its sting. Today, everyone seems to be avoiding truth’s sting and so they are void of its sweetness. Value the truth even though it hurts, because after the hurt comes the healing. Jesus said, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭31-32‬, NASB).
