Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: March, 2016

Stressing About the Future?

Morning Thought: Obey God today and you won’t need to stress about the future. Monoah, Samson’s father, asks, “What shall be the boy’s mode of life and his vocation?” (Judges‬ ‭13:12, NASB‬). We ask similar questions, “Lord, what’s my calling? What do you have in store for my children?” The Lord’s messenger responds, telling him to get his eyes off the future and listen to what God is saying now. Do what God says today and you will be on the path to his glorious future. “The angel of the Lord answered, ‘Your wife must do all that I have told her…She must do everything I have commanded her.” (‭‭Judges‬ ‭13:13-14‬, NIV‬‬).

The Mighty Warrior

Morning Thought: God’s love is not passive, rather his love seeks you out. You don’t have to build a ladder to climb up to God, instead the Lord comes to you. The Father’s kind love is like a mighty warrior out to conquer. Like Gideon, Jesus arises in the night, ambushing your enemies and taking back the ground of your heart. Let the Lord’s love seek you out and prevail over you today. “For his lovingkindness prevails over us and the faithfulness of the Lord goes on and on. Hallelujah!” (Ps 117:2, Personal Translation).

Take the ‘If’ Out

Morning Thought: In our desperation, through a history of suffering and disappointment, we say to Jesus, “If you can please help.” But, Jesus’ goal is to take the ‘IF’ out. He responds to the exasperated father, “If you can? All things are possible to him who believes.” Today I respond, “I do believe, help my unbelief.” May the Lord take the ‘if’ out of our faith. (See Mark 9:14-29)

Live Without Fear

Morning Thought: Since “Light arises in the darkness for the upright,” and the Lord “is gracious and compassionate and righteous,” the righteous person “will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD” (Ps 112:4, 7, NASB). Today, live without fear, trusting in Jesus.

Don’t be Afraid

Morning Thought: When you give everything to God you truly discover the Lord is your provider. Abraham gave his one and only son in response to God’s voice. Not only did he receive Isaac back, but was given a multitude of children in return. And most all, God revealed his very nature to him: The Lord who Provides. Don’t be afraid to give your life and all to Jesus today. “Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide…’By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice'” (Gen.‬ ‭22:14, 16-18,‬ ‭NASB‬‬).

All to Jesus

Today, my family and I were super blessed by the love of our church and friends in giving us a surprise offering for Gideon and I to visit my mom and dad in New York. For those who don’t know, my mom has had an extremely difficult battle with cancer, especially this year, but we are believing for her healing. Here’s the final message I shared today on Reclaiming the Gates. I hope you enjoy. You can download both audio and notes:

God on a Mission

Morning Thought: The Father’s Word heals you. God sends his Word with a mission to revive and restore the humble. Today, listen and receive his Word like you would welcome a valued friend. Receive it like Rahab received the Israelite spies into her home. Consequently, she and her family were spared from Jericho’s destruction. “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave” (Psalm‬ ‭107:20,‬ ‭NIV‬‬).
