Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: January, 2016

Give Him The Glory

Morning Thought: God will bless you. And when he does, do not think it was because of your power or righteousness. It was God’s work––his mercy, grace and gift. Give him all the glory. “Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth'” (Deut.‬ ‭8:17‬, ‭NASB‬‬).

Grasping God’s Word

Today, my morning thought is a graphic. This is something I read from Martin Luther yesterday.

Lift Your Drooping Hands

Morning Thought: As water slowly erodes a rock, so perseverance will wear away the toughest opposition. Today, continue to persevere, knowing that Christ, who overcame every obstacle known to man, lives in you. “Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed” (Hebrews‬ ‭12:12-13‬ , ESV‬‬).

Guard Your Garden

It was encouraging to hear the precious words & prayers shared at church today. I love these beautiful people. Here’s the message I shared: Guard Your Garden. You can download audio & notes. Feel free to share!

Intimacy with God

Morning Thought: The Lord shares his heart with those who are upright in heart. “For the devious are an abomination to the LORD; But He is intimate with the upright” (Proverbs‬ ‭3:32,‬ ‭NASB‬‬).

Against the Crowd

Morning Thought: Fear is the great enemy of fully following God. The spies quaked when they saw the giants in the land. Little did they know that the real giant was their fear. Caleb was different; he stood against the popular thought of terror. He trembled before God, not man, and spoke a word of faith. Even at eighty-five years of age, his trust in God did not abate, giving him unusual strength. Today, be like Caleb, rather than like the crowd. “My brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear; but I followed the Lord my God fully” (Joshua 14:8).

Straight Ahead!

Morning Thought: A man falls to his knees and cries, “Where should I go, Lord?” An angel points forward saying, “Straight ahead!” There are two main diversions from God’s way. To the right is legalism: adding extra burdens to God’s Word. To the left is liberalism: taking away from God’s Word the call to wholehearted obedience. Stick to Scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and they will keep you going straight. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt. 7:14).
