Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: March, 2014

Morning Thought: When you give yourself completely to God, he will give himself fully to you. Give and you will receive. “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chron. 16:9a NIV)

Remember & Hang On

Morning Thought: Remember and hang on! Spiritual forgetfulness and impatience are the two harbingers of backsliding, announcing to the soul that a fall is imminent. Today, let’s learn from the mistakes of ancient Israel and remember what God has done for us, as well as wait for his plan to unfold like a spring flower. The one who was at work in the past is still on the move at the present. “But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold…They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt.” (Psalm 106:13, 21 NIV)

The Turning Point

Morning Thought: How did the wedding celebration go from no wine to an abundance? The turning point of the event is when Mary, Jesus’ mother, recognised and submitted to Jesus’ authority. She said, “Do whatever he tells you!” We often want to do whatever we want, but transformation happens when we listen to whatever Jesus wants. Today, listen to Jesus and watch him transforms your life, turning it from the ordinary to the extraordinary. (See John 2:1-12)

Morning Thought: Men have a great responsibility to lead their homes in God’s way. How you live today will determine your legacy tomorrow. The seeds you plant in the present will be the fruit you eat in the future. Pray for the men you know and may we say with David, “I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. I will not look with approval on anything that is vile” (Ps. 101:2-3).

Dire Straits

Morning Thought: When the Israelites were in dire straits they would bring out the ark of the covenant – the place where God’s glory dwelt. Today, those who are in Jesus and fear The Lord are like the ark. In you the glory resides. When God wants to defeat a stronghold (like ancient Jericho) he sends you. Be confident that God is with you and working powerfully around you. There is nothing like God’s presence and Word to weaken, and ultimately collapse, the walls of the enemy. “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20b NIV. Also see, Joshua 6:6-7, 20.)

Satan vs God

Morning Thought: If the devil is at work, you can be confident that God is doing a much greater work. Eli and his sons were destroying God’s dwelling place. Everything looked dark. But lo and behold! God was raising up a young boy named Samuel. When he grew up he would bring a revolution to Israel that would end Eli’s reign and anoint a king that possessed God’s heart, David. “And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.” (1 Samuel 2:26 NIV)

A Spiral of Life

Morning Thought: When you delight in God’s Word it moves you to meditate on it’s beauty. The more you meditate on Scripture the deeper your delight grows, inspiring you to meditate more. Here we see a spiraling relationship that goes higher and higher: delight leads to meditation which leads to deeper delight and more passionate meditation. Look at the progression in Psalm 119:14-16: “I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.” (NASB)
