Discovering God's Glory One Day at a Time

Month: July, 2014

You Didn’t

Morning Thought: You didn’t choose God, God chose you! And this is what it means from God’s own mouth: “I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭9-10‬ NIV).

Never Underestimate

Morning Thought: Never underestimate the power of prayer because of the length of time it may take to be answered. “When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place” (‭Psalm‬ ‭118‬:‭5‬ NIV).

Morning Thought: Ever since its inception the existence of Israel has been continually threatened. Many have wanted to wipe it off the face of the earth. But the Creator of the Universe, the Master, was not ashamed to call himself “the Holy One of Israel.” He pledged himself to that nation with all of its sins and shortcomings. In every situation God delivered them from death because he loves them. His dealings with Israel are a message to the world: God does not choose the mighty but the weak; God does not choose the esteemed but the despised. God favours the lowly to confound the wise. No matter what happens in this current crisis, the Lord will have his last say, even if every nation on earth turns against Israel. “Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this” (Isa. 37:31-32).

Prayer is a Conversation

Morning Thought: Here’s a beautiful morning prayer that I found in Isaiah: “Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭33‬:‭2‬ NIV). After Isaiah’s prayer the Holy Spirit responds, showing us that prayer is a two way conversation with our Heavenly Father: “The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with his justice and righteousness. He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah‬ ‭33‬:‭2, 5-6‬ NIV).

The Secret

Morning Thought: The secret of lasting is resting. The best thing you can do for yourself and others is spend time each day resting in God’s presence. God’s presence will make you more loving, joyful and at peace. Unplug from the restless world and connect with your Creator through his Word. Here’s what God says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it…Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you…Blessed are all who wait for him! (‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭15, 18‬ NIV)

Morning Thought: When you walk according to God’s design, The Lord walks ahead of you to smooth out your path before you get there. Not only does the Father forgive the past of his children, but he sustains their present lives and cares for their future. God’s looking out for you. “The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭7‬ NIV)

In the Zone

Morning Thought: It’s safer to be in the centre of God’s will in a violent city than to be out of God’s will in a peaceful resort. “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭91‬:‭7‬ NIV)
