Marks of a Light-Emanating Church (Short Video)

How do you know if a church is good? How can you make a difference in your church? Check out this short teaching video. Feel free to share.

Gossip is an Addiction

Morning Thought: Gossip is an addiction, like nicotine or alcoholism. Yet, with gossip it takes two to tango—both the speaker and the listener are guilty. The moment you hear gossip, shut it down. Otherwise, it’s like giving drugs to a drug addict. You don’t need to answer the phone calls and respond to the messages of a gossiper. It’s false compassion to give in to them. It’s time the church takes gossip seriously, warning and correcting those involved in it. “He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, therefore do not associate with a gossip” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭20:19,‬ ‭NASB‬‬).

Walk Tall

Morning Thought: The Lord sets you free from spiritual slavery so that you can walk tall. False humility bows under oppression. It beats you up, saying negative things about yourself to ‘keep you humble.’ True humility is free. It’s not humility that comes from negativity, but rather from knowing who you are before God. You are both forgiven and set free. Your life is now revolved around Jesus’ salvation, not your past sin. Listen: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high” ‭‭(Leviticus‬ ‭26:13,‬ ‭NIV‬‬).

Understanding Bible Translations (Short Video)

What Bible translation should you read? Today I did a short teaching video about understanding Bible translations. Enjoy! And feel free to share. #Bible #Translations #Understanding

The Best Translations

Morning Thought: The Lord moved the prophets and apostles to write God’s Word so that it could be understood. God wants you to know him, he doesn’t want to keep himself a secret. The best Bible translations are the ones that make God’s Word clear. “They read from the book, from the law of God, translating to give the sense so that they understood the reading” ‭‭(Nehemiah‬ ‭8:8‬, NASB).

More Vital than Life

Morning Thought: Daniel was threatened with death if he prayed and worshiped God. Yet, prayer and worship was so important that he defied the king’s decree. Today, we may have reasoned to pray silently and secretly. Daniel was different. He swung open his windows and was not ashamed to pray three times a day. All saw and it meant he was thrown into the lion’s den. But God was stronger and delivered him. Prayer is more vital than life itself. Why? Because it connects you to the source of life, the Living God. “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before” (‭‭Daniel‬ ‭6:10‬, ‭NIV‬‬).
