New York Morning Thought: Today, we bury my mom and it just happened that my cycle of Scripture reading fell on Jesus’ burial. This shows me God’s timing is perfect. Jesus’ burial was not the end of him, it was only the beginning. His burial was like the planting of a seed. And a seed’s purpose is to bear much fruit, each fruit itself containing many more seed. The seed’s life may seem to end, but it gives rise to hundreds and thousands more. Last night, at the celebration of my mom’s life, a large group of people invited the real Jesus to really live in their hearts. The seed of my mom’s life is bearing much fruit because she believed. Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24, NASB).
