Morning Thought: It’s good things that will often cause you to miss God. It was the goodness of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that led Eve astray. Isn’t it a good thing to know the difference between good and evil? Isn’t it good to be wise? So what was wrong with Adam and Eve’s decision? The issue was the way—the way they gained wisdom was against God’s Word. It was their own way (through the serpent’s enticement) rather than God’s way. God’s way is through intimacy with him. Today, don’t be led astray by the appearance of what is good, desirable and pleasurable. Instead, know God and what he wants. “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3, NASB).
