Morning Thought: This week I turned forty-three and I was encouraged that a couple of people shared Isaiah 43 with me. It’s packed with promises. The Lord says, “I am with you.” It’s easy for us to lose God in the past. We think: “in the old days God did great things, but not now.” We may also fall into the trap of thinking: “One day God is going to do awesome things.” But our God is a God of the present as well. “I am” speaks of the present, the God who is with you now. Remember what he has done, look forward to his coming, but also rejoice that he is with you right now. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you…Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:5, 18-19, NIV).
