Morning Thought: Have you ever been flooded by tragedy? I’ve had some flood-like situations in my life. It looked to me like the waters would overtake me. But I learned something. After the flood, God causes the waters to gradually recede. It doesn’t happen instantly, but soon you begin to see the peaks of mountains. The windows open and you start to hear the sound of birds singing. Then there’s green shoots of life that emerge. Joy returns and the waterlogged land dries. It’s not long until the abundance that was lost is restored. Reading Noah’s story I was inspired by this line: “The water receded steadily from the earth…” (Genesis 8:3, NIV). As you trust God, the flood waters will recede and bountiful life will be restored.
