Morning Thought: Have you had a cup of coffee this morning? The process of making coffee is significant. First, the cherry-like fruit is picked. Next, the green seed (or bean) is extracted. Then, the seed is roasted. At this stage you still have individual coffee beans. If the beans aren’t ground, the flavour and aroma cannot be fully enjoyed. Finally, comes the grinding, a very humbling process for a bean. Now the many individual beans can make one cup of coffee. In the body of Christ, we are like many individual beans. We have potential, but need to go through a cross-like, grinding process. Through this humbling process God makes the many one, and he uses us to wake up the world around us. “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12:4-5, NIV).
