Morning Thought: A fresh revival is breaking out at Asbury College, a Christian university in Kentucky with a rich history of revivals since the early 1900s. The most significant one was in the 1970s. The good news is it’s happening again. There’s no slick sanctuary or flashy screens. There are no smoke machines to set the mood or amazing cameras to capture the scene—nothing planned or manipulated. Instead, God has chosen a humble and hungry people longing for God.
It began last Wednesday in their chapel service. And since then, the chapel hasn’t ended. It’s marked by continual worship and one testimony after another of Jesus transforming and restoring people’s lives.
This morning, I watched one of the latest videos. I worshipped, wept and prayed, “Lord, have mercy on Australia.” Revival is like a storm that sweeps the poor in spirit into its vortex. Revival reminds us of Ezekiel’s vision when God’s throne touched earth. “I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal” (Eze. 1:4).
