New Year’s Thought

New Year’s Thought: First things first. Get to know God’s ways. It’s not as easy as you think; God’s ways are counterintuitive. One of the primary reasons we don’t enjoy his gift of life is that we swim against the current of his ways. Doing things our way leaves us frustrated, tired and worn out. Take, for example, God’s creation of human beings on the Sixth Day. His first words to humankind are a great commission, a global call (Gen. 1:27-28). So what does God have in store for their next day? A lot of busy work? No, his plan was for them first to enter his rest. Pretty cool, huh? I hear him saying, “Yes, you’ve got a worldwide mission ahead. But first, I want you to stop, sit still and spend time with me.” Begin 2023 the same way: enter his Sabbath rest. I created the latest infographic – Four Ways to Rest God’s Way – to help us.

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I migrated to Australia in 1999. That’s when I married my beautiful wife, Anna, and we planted our church and Bible School. We’re now the proud parents of four children, ranging in age from nine to twenty-two. We’re still pastoring the same beautiful church, Church on the Park, in the the heart of Brisbane, Australia (https://www.brisbanefire.com). We also continue to teach our awesome students at Holy Fire Ministry Training School (https://www.holyfireschool.com). I love to write and encourage God's people. And something that many people don't know, I'm a DJ as well (aka DJ SOL Vibes).
