The Eyes of an Artist

Morning Thought: It’s trendy to comment on how bad the world is. How many times have you heard things are getting worse? And yes, life can be stressful and it’s sad to see the love of so many grow cold. Yet, if you focus on the evil you’ll become dark. And most of all, you’ll miss God’s abundant and triumphant grace presently at work. To see the good takes the eyes of an artist and the vision of a poet. For us who believe, we’re called to a higher way of seeing: to see empowered by the Spirit. Throughout the process of creation in Genesis 1, God saw the good. He could’ve complained about what was missing; he could’ve railed against the darkness. However, he chose another way and this is also the way of God’s genuine people. “The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy” (Ps. 65:8, NIV).

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I migrated to Australia in 1999. That’s when I married my beautiful wife, Anna, and we planted our church and Bible School. We’re now the proud parents of four children, ranging in age from eight to twenty-one. We’re still pastoring the same beautiful church, Church on the Park, in the the heart of Brisbane, Australia (https://www.brisbanefire.com). We also continue to teach our awesome students at Holy Fire Ministry Training School (https://www.holyfireschool.com). I love to write and encourage God's people. And something that many people don't know, I'm a DJ as well (aka DJ SOL Vibes).
