Change Your Focus

Morning Thought: What are you focusing on? A few days ago, I woke up with this image and drew it as a cartoon. My character (Hopie) is sad. He’s looking at something he’s planted and it’s tiny—it doesn’t seem to be growing. His eyes are fixated on how little it looks. But then, a voice comes from heaven, “Turn around. Look behind you!” There is something big and growing that he has planted. If he turns around, and looks in the right spot, he will be encouraged. Today, focus on the good things God is causing to grow in your life. “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth” (1 Cor. 3:6-7).

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I migrated to Australia in 1999. That’s when I married my beautiful wife, Anna, and we planted our church and Bible School. We’re now the proud parents of four children, ranging in age from eight to twenty-one. We’re still pastoring the same beautiful church, Church on the Park, in the the heart of Brisbane, Australia ( We also continue to teach our awesome students at Holy Fire Ministry Training School ( I love to write and encourage God's people. And something that many people don't know, I'm a DJ as well (aka DJ SOL Vibes).
