Morning Thought: How do you know you’ve repented? You know when you bear the fruits of repentance. Repentance is much deeper than saying ‘sorry’ for your sins. Repentance means dealing with the root issues that cause bad fruit in your life. After repentance, your life looks, tastes and smells different—especially your hidden life, which only God and your family see. This kind of repentance is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. John the Baptist said, “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance” (Luke 3:8a, NIV).
Amen! So few people understand this. If there is no fruit in keeping with repentance then it is only remorse. Remorse is about as useful as a three legged duck in a calf roping competition. Real repentance does change us from the inside out.
Thank you for this post.
