Morning Thought: A bridge lays its life down for those who pass over it. It helps people go from one place to another. But if it’s not properly supported and continually renewed it will break under the strain. And if it collapses, it not only brings down itself, but all on it. As a disciple of Christ you are like a bridge, assisting others on their journey from one place to another. However, the sacrifice can take its toll. So for God’s sake, take care of yourself and please don’t be ashamed to ask for help. It’s essential that your faith is emotionally and mentally healthy. Remember what Samuel said, “Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in listening/obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to listen/obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams” (1 Samuel 15:22, NASB & italics mine, Heb. shema).
