Morning Thought: The Holy Spirit empowers you to master yourself and the things under your care. The last fruit of the Spirit in Greek is enkrateia. It’s often translated as ‘self-control’ but it’s difficult to sum up with one English word. It means to master and properly direct yourself. It also means to be in control of your emotions, desires and choices. Someone who possesses enkrateia has self-discipline. They also effectively manage their time and money. Today, be the captain of your ship and let this fruit grow in your life. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23 NASB).
