Be the Captain of Your Ship

Morning Thought: The Holy Spirit empowers you to master yourself and the things under your care. The last fruit of the Spirit in Greek is enkrateia. It’s often translated as ‘self-control’ but it’s difficult to sum up with one English word. It means to master and properly direct yourself. It also means to be in control of your emotions, desires and choices. Someone who possesses enkrateia has self-discipline. They also effectively manage their time and money. Today, be the captain of your ship and let this fruit grow in your life. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control”‭‭ (Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭NASB‬‬).

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I migrated to Australia in 1999. That’s when I married my beautiful wife, Anna, and we planted our church and Bible School. We’re now the proud parents of four children, ranging in age from nine to twenty-two. We’re still pastoring the same beautiful church, Church on the Park, in the the heart of Brisbane, Australia (https://www.brisbanefire.com). We also continue to teach our awesome students at Holy Fire Ministry Training School (https://www.holyfireschool.com). I love to write and encourage God's people. And something that many people don't know, I'm a DJ as well (aka DJ SOL Vibes).
