Don’t Spoil Your Gift

Morning Thought: Around the first year of our marriage, Anna and I invited over a few friends for dinner. We worked hard to make a beautiful meal. After hours of preparation, we crowned our dish with

crushed nuts. Little did we know that maggots were breeding in the nuts. Once discovered, everyone was grossed out and most of us refused to eat. This is what it’s like when you have giftings, but weak character. Your gifting may be beautiful, but your character may spoil the whole thing. So make sure you allow God to build your character. Listen to what Ecclesiastes says, “As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor” (‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭10:1‬, NIV‬‬).

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I migrated to Australia in 1999. That’s when I married my beautiful wife, Anna, and we planted our church and Bible School. We’re now the proud parents of four children, ranging in age from nine to twenty-two. We’re still pastoring the same beautiful church, Church on the Park, in the the heart of Brisbane, Australia (https://www.brisbanefire.com). We also continue to teach our awesome students at Holy Fire Ministry Training School (https://www.holyfireschool.com). I love to write and encourage God's people. And something that many people don't know, I'm a DJ as well (aka DJ SOL Vibes).
