Morning Thought: Around the first year of our marriage, Anna and I invited over a few friends for dinner. We worked hard to make a beautiful meal. After hours of preparation, we crowned our dish with
crushed nuts. Little did we know that maggots were breeding in the nuts. Once discovered, everyone was grossed out and most of us refused to eat. This is what it’s like when you have giftings, but weak character. Your gifting may be beautiful, but your character may spoil the whole thing. So make sure you allow God to build your character. Listen to what Ecclesiastes says, “As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor” (Ecclesiastes 10:1, NIV).
