Morning Thought: While emphasising God as the compassionate Father, we have forgotten that he is also the righteous Judge. The Holy Spirit is like a kind teacher who gives us the answers before the test. One day we will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. But the Holy Spirit convicts and changes our lives so that we will not be surprised when we stand before the Judge. The Spirit’s conviction is not God condemning us. Actually it’s the opposite. The Lord is preparing us for that awesome day when we stand before him. Respond to the Holy Spirit’s conviction today and Christ’s coming will be a joy rather than a terror. “‘And He, when He [the Spirit] comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment’…For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (John 16:8; 2 Corinthians 5:10, NASB).
