Morning Thought: Today I read about the Lord overthrowing Sodom and its surrounding cities. I was intrigued that on the same visit, just before God’s judgment, he promised Isaac—a message of hope, laughter and joy. God was (and still is) many steps ahead of evil. He first plants the new seed of life before removing the fruitless tree of death. It’s through Isaac that Jesus came. Yes, men are sinners, but God’s mercy triumphs over his judgment. Run to his mercy and you’ll be filled with his joy. “Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son” (Genesis 18:14, NASB).
