Morning Thought: When life overwhelms you, and the future instills fear, don’t worry about tomorrow – just do the next thing. What’s the next step? For the disciples, Jesus’ death robbed them of hope. Disillusioned, they scattered (Matt. 26:56). Later, they locked themselves away in fear, losing track of the next step (John 20:19). However, after Jesus’ death, two of his followers boldly rose: Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus (John 19:38-42). They saw what needed to be done and cared for Jesus’ dead body. Little did they know that what they did prepared Jesus for his resurrection on the third day (John 20:1-10). What you do in faith today prepares the way for Jesus’ resurrection life to break in – not just for you but all trapped in the past (John 20:19-23).
