Pastors have Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Days

Morning Thought: Pastors also have terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days––even in Australia. I’ve had many of them. Usually, it’s between God and me; I lean on him, and he lifts me up. Yesterday, however, I profusely wept at communion in front of the congregation. I lost all strength, and my only cry was, “Lord, help me!” The grief of all the things we’ve had to walk through over the last several years overwhelmed me. I pray like this in secret at times, but now it was in front of everyone: no filter, bare before God, and quite frankly embarrassing. Thankfully, the congregation came around Anna and me and prayed, showing love and mercy. Later on, I was reminded of this verse: “Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka [sounds like ‘weeping’ in Hebrew], they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools” (Psalm 84:5-6, NIV).

I was born and raised in Long Island, New York. In 1999 I migrated to Australia, married my beautiful wife, Anna, and we planted a church and Bible School. We are now the proud parents of four children ranging in age from six to twenty. We are still pastoring the same beautiful church, Church on the Park, in the the heart of Brisbane, Australia ( We also continue to teach our awesome students at Holy Fire Ministry Training School ( I love to write and encourage God's people. And something that many people don't know, I'm a DJ as well (aka DJ SOL Vibes).
